American Bollywood
🔀 Shuffle Sundays #96 • Young the Giant, Lucinda Chua, half•alive, Georgette Smith, and more!
💽 » American Bollywood, by Young the Giant
alternative rock • 16 songs • 58 minutes
For their 5th studio album, American rock band Young The Giant embarked on a journey of self-discovery and dived deep into their own origins to create a body of work that combines different pieces from their previous releases in a very cohesive and enjoyable package.
American Bollywood explores lead singer Sameer Gadhia’s Indian background as an immigrant family pursuing the American dream, with great and detailed storytelling lyrics accompanied by beautiful and dreamy arrangements mixing Indian influences with their own already-known identity.
Unfortunately, the album was slowly released in 4 different EPs with 4 songs each, and the only way to listen to it in its entirety (so far) is through this playlist on Spotify.
🎶 » Golden, by Lucinda Chua
Lucinda Chua is a London-based singer, songwriter, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, that combines her voice with cello and different effects to produce some of the most interesting alternative pop music out there, full of intimacy and atmosphere. She has released two EPs in the last few years as a solo artist, but no full album was announced yet.
🎶 » Did I Make You Up?, by half·alive
And… they did it again! This band just doesn’t disappoint, I swear. After putting out one of my favorite albums of this year, alternative-rock band half·alive continues to impress me with a sequence of singles that combines their always creative sounds with great visuals, normally full of great choreography. Their upcoming album Conditions of a Punk will be out on December 2 and I just can’t wait!
