💽 » MUNA, by MUNA
indie-pop, synth-pop • 11 songs • 39 minutes
If you’re looking for the perfect summer album, look no further!
For their third studio album, LA trio MUNA continues to do what they do best and seems ready to take over the world with deliciously catchy indie-pop songs that can put a smile on anybody’s face. If you already knew them by their previous albums, you’ll probably enjoy this one too. If this is your introduction to the trio, this new album feels like the perfect place to start.
Transiting comfortably in between indie and synth-pop, they are constantly being compared to the trio of sisters HAIM, which I can understand why. Except that MUNA has a great strength that differentiates them: they are queer women writing music to help inspire younger people to be comfortable with their identity. That to me is just another reason to respect and love them even more!
🎶 » Sonate Pacifique, by L'Impératrice
The duet vocals, the beautiful harmonies, the bassline, the old style mixed with modern production… everything about this song and performance hits the spot. And did you notice the incredible location? Thanks to reader Andrew Kamphey for putting French pop and nu-disco band L'Impératrice on my radar!
🎶 » Two-Way Mirror, by Loathe
I honestly had no idea that combining metal with shoegaze was a thing until I recently started listening to British band Loathe, but then I realized that this has been happening for a real long time. Two-Way Mirror was my introduction and continues to be my favorite from the band. If you enjoy bands like Deftones, this will definitely hit all the boxes!
