👋🏼 Hello friend, it’s been a minute! Almost one whole year to be more precise. 2023 was a hectic year personally and professionally speaking, with lots of challenges but also lots of great things that got in the way of my committing to this project, which included a full-time job that I continue to enjoy every day. But despite the busyness of everyday life, there was not a single week that I hadn’t thought about Shuffle Sundays and how much I missed all of this. So without further ado, I’m back with my weekly music recommendations and more. I’ll continue experimenting with the content and the format moving forward, and I hope you continue to enjoy the ride with me. Also, many thanks to those who reached out during my absence, it means a lot knowing how much people missed this corner of the internet!
💽 » Remind Me, by Jakub Zytecki
art-rock, progressive • 13 songs • 52 minutes
Jakub Zytecki is a virtuoso guitarist from Poland whose music blends so many different elements that trying to describe it becomes an almost impossible task. It’s essentially rock with progressive tendencies, in terms of song structures, but filled with so many incredible layers of ambiance that, at times, makes the listening experience larger than life.
Remind Me is his third full-length record and the one that put him on my radar through the title track. Although many of the songs might be on the ‘heavier’ side, for the unsuspecting listener, his vocals always manage to remain not only accessible but also very unique for this type of music. It was love at first listen and an album that only grows more and more on me with each spin.
🎶 » Running Out Of Time, by Paramore
Paramore’s post-punk-influenced sixth studio album This Is Why (2023) didn’t captivate me as much as I had anticipated, but there are still a handful of incredible tracks that keep pulling me back to it, including Running Out of Time, probably my favorite of the album after receiving this great music video.
🎶 » Modern Love, by All Time Low
From their ninth studio album Tell Me I’m Alive (2023) pop-punk veterans All Time Love delivered Modern Love, a deliciously catchy piano-pop-rock anthem borrowing from various influences and merging with their signature 2000s sound. One of those songs that won’t change your life, but could possibly put a smile on your face.
