Frederico Heliodoro is a prolific musician, composer, and producer from Brazil whose most recent album, The Weight of the News (2023), beautifully blends accessible pop music with technical arrangements, going from ethereal (almost psychedelic) moments to more experimental jazz, always sounding extremely classy, no matter what. By the first few seconds of the opening track Interestelar, it’s practically impossible not to get completely hooked by the deliciously 80s-influenced groove, which perpetuates throughout most of the record. Love at first listen!

Two Lanes is a Berlin-based duo of brothers whose music blends acoustic piano recordings with analog synthesizers and minimal beat elements, creating hypnotizing electronic music perfect for many different occasions. Ascend, from their debut album Duality (2023) was my introduction to the duo, and seeing them creating the sounds live in this video makes the experience even better.

This might be the first time I’m sharing music created by AI around here, and I’m not planning to turn this into a habit, but this one really caught my attention, as it blends two of my favorite artists: an imagination of what would it sound like if Linkin Park covered Gotye’s megahit Somebody That I Used To Know, but in their unique style. The result is not only incredible but also made me wonder how cool could have been if they had ever put out an album full of unexpected covers like this one.
