There's Nothing Left For You 📭
Shuffle Sundays #58 • Mitski, Zia Cora, Sofi Tukker, Free Guy, NFTs, Austin Kleon, Achal Mishra, and more.
Greetings from New York City!
A few days ago I went back to one of my favorite venues in NYC after 2 years, to photograph the amazing singer-songwriter Tamar Eisenman, and it was like reconnecting with a piece of me I almost forgot existed! You can check out some of my favorite pictures from that night by clicking here.

💽 » Mitski - Laurel Hell
indie-rock, alternative • 11 songs • 33 minutes
Even though Mitski exploded to the world 4 years ago with the release of her 5th studio album Be The Cowboy, appearing in many lists of best albums from that year, it was earlier this month, upon the release of her new record Laurel Hell, that everything clicked for me. Apparently, it wasn’t really on her plans to follow up with another release, but I’m so glad she did it!
Laurel Hell is a very melancholic and dark album, thematically speaking, even if some of the upbeat tracks (like The Only Heartbreaker, or Should’ve Been More) try to paint a different picture to the more casual listeners. The truth is that Mitski felt that she really didn’t have more to say after the massively successful Be The Cowboy, in addition to just being tired after so many years on the music industry hustle.
Often times I think that our favorite album from an artist ends up being the one who exposed us to their work. In this case, I’m curious to see if Laurel Hell will remain as my favorite Mitski album, even after tasting her previously acclaimed ones.
📺 » zia x aza — Submarines
Submarines is a project in collaboration between musician Zia Cora and artist Aza Raskin. The music video was created in less than 48 hours using AI techniques, resulting in a beautifully animated sequence, that feels like it was hand-drawn, interpreting Cora’s lyrics. Both intriguing and hypnotizing!
📺 » Sofi Tukker - Original Sin
I dare you to listen to this song and not think about the summer immediately! Sofi Tukker is an electro-pop duo perfect for those days when all you want is to listen to fun and uncompromising music. Original Sin is their new single and I hope they’re planning to release a full-length album sometime soon, as their first and only record (so far) is 2018’s Treehouse.

🧩 » Random Bits
🍿 • I’ve been a bit disappointed with movies in general lately, but Free Guy was one of the most fun and enjoyable films I’ve seen recently. It’s a weird and lovely mix of Truman Show with Ready Player One and Wreck-It Ralph.
👾 • Do you have any thoughts on NFTs? I confess that the more I read about it, the more confused I get, but after watching these 2 in-depth videos (The Problem With NFTs / Scams, Art Theft and NFTs) on the topic, I’m more and more convinced that I’m not jumping into the hype train anytime soon…
📝 • Loved this interview that Heather Havrilesky did with Austin Kleon on blurring the lines between work and play, for her newsletter Ask Polly.

Thanks Leo. I was in serious discussions about an NFT drop with the owners of the website hitpiece.com - then they made national news for questionable practices. For a minute, I was convinced that NFT’s would be my next big move. Now it’s on hold. It all still goes way over my head. H
1. Laurel Hell has been on repeat over here!
2. Just watched 'Free Guy' last night — definitely fun!
3. Really love the visual inspiration section.
