💽 » Modern Error - Victim Of A Modern Age
alternative rock, metal • 14 songs • 49 minutes
Modern Error was a completely new band to me when I discovered them just a week before the release of their new album Victim Of A Modern Age, and I am so glad I decided to give it a try! My initial reaction, based on listening to one track, was that it was going to be yet another generic metalcore act like hundreds of others out there, but it takes just one full listen to the whole album to realize that they're way beyond that.
Victim Of A Modern Age is a delicious blend of modern rock with touches of 2000s emo, alternative rock, and even some industrial, that makes it a truly powerful journey when experienced back to back. And if you pay attention to the lyrics, the experience expands even further, as the content is full of philosophical and existentialistic topics across the 14 songs. And if all of that wasn’t enough, lots of the tracks already have music videos (like this one) tied up in a coherent visual identity that you don’t see very often.

📺 » COIN - Cutie
Speaking of deliciousness, thanks to Arjun’s latest issue of 3 by 7, I can’t stop listening to COIN’s new single Cutie, an incredibly catchy tune that got me curious to visit some of their previous music, which I wasn’t very familiar with.

📺 » The Maine - Loved You A Little
The Maine is a band that has been putting music out there for 15 years and, although they have been always on my radar, none of their music really stuck with me until last year’s XOXO: From Love & Anxiety In Real Time, even though a lot of their “OG” fans didn’t think the album was that good, to say the least. Now they’re back with a brand new single called Loved You A Little, which features emo gods Taking Back Sunday and singer Charlotte Sands. A nostalgic pop-punk tune with a well-executed music video!

👨🏻🎨 • Revisited this speech from more than 10 years ago by Ira Glass on the creative process, and it continues as relevant as ever;
🎨 • I’ve been curious to try my hands at Procreate for a long time now, and this video by the awesome channel Rishi Draws finally convinced me to give it a try;
🔥 • Twenty One Pilots’ recent album Scaled and Icy was very underwhelming, but I’ve been really enjoying the way they’ve been mixing their old and new style at the live performances, like this one and this one.
⚡️ » Visual Inspiration
Stephen Wong Chun Hei is a Hong Kong-based artist whose paintings are focused on natural landscape scenery, inspired by the concept of the “Dream Journey” in Chinese landscape painting, in which a person experiences the feeling of travel by looking at a landscape painting from the comfort of their own home. Congrats on 400! That Procreate video was incredible! It was so well done. I immediately want to drop everything that I’m doing and start learning everything that Rishi Draws knows. :)
Congrats on crossing the 400 subscribers mark and exposing me to many creative talented people that are out there. I never would have discovered them on my own. Thankyou.
