Best Wishes, Warmest Regards 🏳️🌈
Shuffle Sundays #23 • Schitt's Creek, Tuyo, The Slice, Lego, Edgar Wright, and more.
Hello and welcome to Shuffle Sundays, a weekly curated list of content I thought was worth sharing with more people.
🏳️🌈 In celebration of Pride Month, throughout the whole month of June, I’ll be highlighting some content created by or that dialogues directly with the LGBTQ+ community, which I am happily a part of. It doesn’t mean that every single piece of content will be related, but you’ll see a few things here and there. Since there are still 3 more issues until the end of the month, I’d love to hear some recommendations from you too, so feel free to reply to this email with something I should check out and maybe feature here next.

📺 Schitt's Creek
{something to watch • tv-series, 6 seasons}
I don’t really know why it took me so long to finally give it a chance to Schitt’s Creek, but I’m so glad I did it! After this year’s Golden Globes, I decided to give it a try, anticipating that I wasn’t going to like it, and it ended up being love at first sight. I got completely addicted by the very first episode, something that is so rare to happen nowadays.
On a surface level, it’s the story of a super-rich family that finds themselves broke and has to relocate and readjust their lifestyle to the new reality. I know, why would you like to watch a series about that, right? Luckily Schitt’s Creek has so much more to offer, the more you get to know the characters and they get to know themselves, at the same time. It’s a story about relationships, vulnerability, values, and a big present to the LGBTQ+ community. It’s not an exaggeration to say that it’s now one of my favorite series of all time.
After you’re done with the whole 6 seasons, make sure to watch Best Wishes, Warmest Regards, a TV special that documents the last moments of the series while sharing lots of behind the scenes and special moments throughout the whole production.
💽 Tuyo - Chegamos Sozinhos em Casa
{something to listen to • album, 32 minutes}
3 years after the amazing debut “Pra Curar”, Tuyo is back with the first volume of their new album “Chegamos Sozinhos em Casa”, out last week. You may have heard their music back when I featured them on issue #11 (Made in Brazil), but in case you’re new, it’s never too late.
If their first compositions relied heavily on electronic (and more minimalist) beats, this new record pushes the boundaries and sees the trio exploring many other elements and possibilities, all while maintaining their essence, sounding like a logical and natural evolution in their musical career. This was one of my most anticipated albums of 2021, and I’m so happy that it exceeded all my expectations. Tuyo remains one of my favorite and most interesting bands to follow. It’s one of those albums that only grows on me each time I go back to it.
“Sem Mentir” continues to be one of my favorite tracks on the album, but “Tem Tanto Deus” is right behind:
📬 The Slice
{something to read • newsletter}
The Slice was one of the first newsletters I subscribed to when I started my own journey earlier this year. Every week Nic brings a blend of curated reads and tools, mostly related to entrepreneurship, technology, and productivity, as he himself describes.
But more than browsing through the links, I started to look forward to his introductions, always bringing personal notes to the week’s theme, and the illustration carefully chosen to open up the issue. I’ve come across so many interesting new artists just by following the links below the images. Kudos to Nic for always crediting the people behind the art!
🔀 On a different note:
📝 • an article on finding your passion, by Shuffle Sundays’ reader Cullin McGrath.
📝 • What if Remote Work Didn’t Mean Working from Home? — an article by best-selling author Cal Newport.
🎬 • director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Baby Driver) has two (very different) and exciting new movies coming out his year:
⚡️ Something to Inspire 🌈
Everyone is Awesome is a new set by LEGO, designed to celebrate the diversity of its fans and "the world around us". Launched just in time for Pride Month, the buildable display model is inspired by the iconic rainbow flag which is used as a symbol of love and acceptance by the LGBTQ+ community:
💽 New Music
{something to listen to • albums & singles}
This week I'm particularly interested in checking the new albums from Japanese Breakfast, Rostam, and Wolf Alice. Also, new tracks from Everything Everything, John Mayer, Billie Eilish, King Princes, Chvrches, and many more. If you’re curious to hear some of these songs and more, make sure to follow my 2021 playlist on Spotify, updated weekly with new releases:
