💽 » Perihelion, by Sungazer
jazz, fusion, progressive, EDM • 10 songs • 40 minutes
I recently discovered Sungazer when I was browsing through Jakub Zytecki’s Instagram and found out he was headlining a US tour and had guitar virtuoso Plini and Sungazer as supporting acts. That alone was enough to catch my attention, and I got absolutely hypnotized by the first seconds of the opening track from their debut album Perihelion (2021). They refer to themselves as “futurejazz” and it’s pretty easy to understand why. The album freely transits through experimental jazz and catchy EDM-like sounds in an impressively smooth way, making each track a brand-new and exciting adventure. While the album is mostly instrumental, the tracks featuring guest vocalists make the experience even more interesting.
🎶 » Infinita, by Tuyo
Tuyo, one of my favorite contemporary groups from Brazil these days, has been slowly paving their way into their third studio album, which is still to be announced. After an EP at the end of 2022, and an acoustic EP last year, the band is back with two more singles, Maravilha and Infinito, the latter featured here with a great music video, once again showing the band slowly distancing themselves from the sad and melancholic sound from their first album, focusing on a more upbeat sound and message. One of my most anticipated albums of 2024!
🎶 » One Night/All Night, by Justice
8 years after their last studio album, French electronic duo Justice is back with two new singles and a brand new album coming in late April. One Night/All Night features Tame Impala (which blended perfectly with their sound) and feels like a perfect mixture of their early electronic sound with the more 70s/disco-oriented style of their later recordings. Hoping to get to see them live on their upcoming tour!
