Always willing to try out a new New York band Leo, so gave Toledo's 'How It Ends' a go. The title track is my favourite so far.
It's surely high time you joined Kevin & Steve though in reading my music themed novel (for free) at: https://challenge69.substack.com - there's a whole chapter themed around Damon Albarn/Blur/Gorillaz coming up soon!
Thanks for the shout out! You didnβt mention that it was Electric Callboy that I was swooning over, so thought Iβd specify. Always appreciate your newsletter-- itβs my guide for what albums to look into for the coming week. Excited to hear the new MIA, Eno, and 1975.
Havenβt had time yet to give those 3 albums a listen but I can relate to having overly high expectations for bands I really love, which can lead to disappointment, but the great thing about music is that the cream rises to the top and repeated listens can squelch those pesky expectations.
the good news is that the 1975 album has been growing on me since that message! Still not my favorite of the band, but I'm enjoying it more with each listen.
Thatβs always a great sign when an album grows on you; sometimes it even continues to grow until it becomes a favorite album! Doesnβt sound like this one will reach those heights. For some reason I tried to reply to your latest newsletter but the comment function was grayed out in the app. Mentioning it here in case somehow commenting got turned off on your end or if the app is buggy.οΏΌ

Let me know your thoughts! The new 1975 is pretty good, but I think my expectations were just way too high...
