The list I settled on was:
5) QTY, 4) Television, 3) Velvet Underground, 2) Talking Heads, and 1) The Strokes (just can't get more New York than them!) - what would yours be?

Love the NY bands challenge. In trying to stick with more contemporary bands, I'd pick (in no order) Strokes, LCD Soundsystem, Vampire Weekend, Battles, and Grizzly Bear.
