Love From The Other Side
🔀 SS #105 • Sam Smith, Aviations, Fall Out Boy, Julia Schimautz, and more!

A couple of months ago I mentioned how surprised I was with having a new album from Phoenix amongst my favorites from 2022. Well, here we are again…
Four albums into their discography, Sam Smith delivered (already) one of my favorites of 2023, and based on the singles previously released, I had no idea this album would resonate so much with me, from the first to the very last track. It’s a perfect balance of dance tracks ready for the night and deeper cuts with extremely personal and emotional lyrics, combined with Smith's always powerful voice. It’s an album that I’m constantly returning to and don’t see myself putting aside so soon.
🎶 » Safehouse, by Aviations
Aviations was another fairly recent discovery to me and I’m so glad I came across their music. I was never a huge fan of progressive rock/metal, but I’m really enjoying the elements they are bringing to the table, especially in this new single Safehouse. Extremely well-played rock with flavors of jazz and an incredible vocalist. Can’t wait for the rest of the album (hopefully) sometime this year!
🎶 » Love From The Other Side, by Fall Out Boy
Five years after their most divisive album to date, Mania (2018), pop-punk darlings Fall Out Boy are back with the great new single Love From The Other Side, which got everybody completely hyped up for their upcoming 8th studio album So Much (for) Stardust, out March 24th.

Boy oh boy am I grateful for the Aviations recommendation. I’m very iffy on a lot of new prog and prog metal but these guys are the most exciting thing since Haken. And the video is just as brilliant. New Haken in 2023 too!
Alllllll great recs. Thanks Leo!
