💽 » Remember That You Will Die, by Polyphia
progressive rock, metal, fusion • 12 songs • 39 minutes
Over the last few years, I stopped ranking1 my favorite albums of the year for different reasons but, if I had to do that, this one would be pretty high on the list.
Polyphia is a band that I discovered and started listening to this year, and it’s slowly becoming one of my favorites of all time (too soon to say that?). And what better feeling than discovering a new favorite band that has a new album coming soon after you started listening to them? Remember That You Will Die was slowly dripped through several singles but, despite having listened to all of them countless times, experiencing the album as a whole was an even better journey.
Polyphia is essentially an instrumental progressive metal band, but they are able to blend SO MANY different genres into their music that it’s honestly not even fair to put them into the “metal” box. Jazz, Latin, fusion, R&B, trap, and pop, are just a few of the flavors you’ll hear in Remember That You Will Die, which also features some interesting guest vocals. Play now and thank me later!
🎶 » Vamos Ficar Na Terra, by Lucas Santtana
The music video for Vamos Ficar Na Terra is part of an upcoming documentary about Brazilian singer-songwriter Lucas Santtana and it perfectly captures the essence of his music. The minimal arrangement mixed with the sounds of his surroundings makes us feel as if we are right there with Santtana, walking by the beautiful boardwalk in Salvador, Bahia.
🎶 » Strong, by Romy & Fred again..
You may know Romy as the beautiful voice and 1/3 of the English indie-electronic band The XX. Over the last couple of years, she has been slowly teasing what could be her first solo album, but nothing was officially announced yet. In Strong, she’s joined by multi-instrumentalist and producer Fred Again for a delicious throwback to 90/2000s trance music.
