๐ฝ ยป Bonobo - Fragments
electronic โข 12 songs โข 51 minutes
Simon Green, aka Bonobo, has been releasing music for more than two decades, starting out in the trip-hop scene. I discovered and got into his music in recent years when he started exploring other paths and introducing more acoustic elements into his electronic signature music.
In Fragments, Green pretty much continues what he started in 2017โs Migration, creating a both diverse and cohesive album, mixing instrumental tracks with other tunes that feature guest vocalists, like the incredible Tides, featuring vocals from Jamila Woods, which remains as one of my favorites in the whole album.
If you enjoyed the Focus Playlist I shared a while ago, I have no doubt youโll enjoy Fragments back to back, as well as the rest of Bonoboโs discography.
๐บ ยป Bleachers - Stop Making This Hurt
Lead by songwriter and producer Jack Antonoff โ which you may know from producing successful albums for Taylor Swift, Lorde, Florence + The Machine, and many more โ Bleachers is an indie-pop band that borrows their musicality from the 80s and 90s. With three albums in their baggage, it was their latest Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night (2021) that really caught my attention, and mainly because of the catchy great single Stop Making This Hurt.
๐ ยป The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music
A couple of issues ago I mentioned how much I enjoy reading musician/artists biographies, so after a long time without reading any, I was excited to dive into Dave Grohlโs memoir โThe Storyteller: Tales of Life and Musicโ.
In a somewhat linear timeline (that occasionally jumps back and forth), Grohl narrates his musical adventures from attending his first concert as a teenager in Chicago to forming his own first punk-rock bands, to joining the band Scream, becoming the drummer of Nirvana, forming and leading his own band Foo Fighters, and many other music projects and collaborations over the years. Itโs an easy and very entertaining read, especially if you are familiar with his music and like his persona.
One of the many things I enjoyed learning about in the book, was the fact that 1999โs Thereโs Nothing Left to Lose is considered by Grohl the best album ever made by the Foo Fighters, something I had no idea until then. After reading that I immediately listened to the album back to back and it hit completely different.
When I finished up the book, I immediately started thinking about other similar books Iโve enjoyed over the years, including Anthony Kiedisโ Scar Tissue, and Travis Barkerโs Can I Say. If you have any recommendations of what should I read next, please reply to this email or leave them in the comment section.

๐งฉ ยป Random Bits
๐ฌ โข Almost 30 years since their first full-length film, itโs incredible how Pixar continues to maintain the level of their work so high. Turning Red, their latest one, is another incredible masterpiece that may look silly on a surface level, but that goes so deep into more dense and complicated themes like Pixar does best;
๐ง๐ปโ๐ป โข When it comes to social media, you may think youโre the addict, but donโt forget that youโre also actually the dealer;
๐จ โข And speaking of social media, have you noticed how every type of art became โcontentโ these days?
