๐ฝ ยป Liberdade, by Jonathan Ferr
r&b, jazz, soul โข 10 songs โข 35 minutes
When I recommended Jonathan Ferrโs sophomore album A Cura (2021), I had a feeling that that was not going to be the last time I talked about him around here.
With his third studio album Liberdade, Ferr created a body of work that distances itself a little bit from the minimalist and instrumental approach from his previous record, this time inviting various singers to collaborate throughout the albumโs track list, making each song its own little universe.
While you can still hear Ferrโs delicate and skillful piano playing, Liberdade explores a variety of genres from r&b to neo-soul, to rap and hip-hop without ever losing its coherence as a whole.
๐ถ ยป Hiding Out In The Open, by Feist
5 years after her last studio album Pleasure (2017), Canadian singer-songwriter Feist (who you may know from her smash-hit 1234) is back with 3 new singles from her upcoming new album Multitudes, out April 14th. From this first batch of new songs, Hiding Out in The Open got a great music video to accompany the track, and got me super excited for the rest of the album.
๐ถ ยป I Feel Like Dancing, by Jason Mraz
Another recent pleasant surprise was the return of singer-songwriter Jason Mraz. Not that he has been away for too long but, at least for me, his new single I Feel Like Dancing, feels a bit closer to the Mraz I used to enjoy from his first three studio albums, before his music took a slightly different turn. Unfortunately, weโll have to wait until June 23rd to listen to Mystical Magical Rhythmical Radical Ride and find out if the rest of the album will follow the same direction of this deliciously catchy first single.
